Default Radiator Options

Hello Dodgers,
New to the forum here......picked up a 1987 Ramcharger 2wd with 5.9 and low miles in a trade the other day. I was so sure the trade was a good one (traded items with not a lot of value to me) that I didn't even feel the need to drive it. It was a 2 owner and the 2nd owner put all kinds of new stuff on it....brakes complete all four wheels....bilstein shocks....4......tune up....plugs. ....not sure what else and a list of other new stuff....it does have a small problem or two......not enough to deter me.....LOL....After the trade I took off for my maiden voyage...,felt pretty comfy about it because it came from 2counties away and was dry as a bone on motor and undercarriage. Anyway I drove like soccer mom for a few minutes to test brakes steering etc...... then I aired it out .....runs great but has an exhaust leak that I had already detected. But I ran her a little hard and when I got back I had a pinhole in the radiator looks factory so 26 yrs old.

My first forum question ....I looked on several Dodge sites and found a number 4140657 that I hope is the mopar number.
I typically get a number and then use rockauto because they have multiple choices and great prices. They have a number of choices that say they replace mine and they are not all identical. How do I know if I have/need HD cooling..... I will probably pull a small camper with this thing in the future. Any advice on how to measure different parts of radiator to compare to the choices would be helpful......such as are the inlet header and outlet header the tanks on the sides and thewhole center section would be the core dimensions. Is it even worth taking this radiator to a radiator repair shop at its age?

Thanks in advance for any help.........360THUNDER:icon_playing :

When I replaced my radiator on my 92 318 auto, I just got it from the local auto parts store and it fit fine. Done good for me so far. replaced about 2 years ago. Its ALOT lighter than the original. Plastic and aluminum, which I wasnt so sure about the plastic but it seems to be holding up.

Not sure what HD cooling is, but the only difference I could think of is if you have an auto trans or a manual and 318/360 which you already asnwered
