Beefing up a stock 318

Default Beefing up a stock 318

If you have a stock 318 and want get up around 400hp, where would you start?

400hp out of a 318? maybe 100 shot of nitrous? there is no real cheap or easy way to do that. if you start with a 318 magnum it would be a good place to start. they are suppose to be putting out about 230hp stock. with a cam and some head work i think 300hp might be fairly achievable but 400 might require you tearing into the engine and possibly bumping the compression ratio or maybe stroking it and making a 390. always liked the sound of a healthy 390

You building a drag motor or something for the street? First get a 360 then start there. Twin turbo set up???

Sorry for taking a while to get back. Just had my kid the other day. But no, not necessarily a drag set up. I want to take just a normal 318 and push it to its limits. Everyone has their own little way of how they want their vehicle to look or perform, I want my D150 to be unique in performance. I saw a video on a group of guys that pushed a 318 c.i. around 390 bhp. If I seem the task a bit to much, however, I have considered maybe pulling a 440 from an old motor home and starting there. I'm sure you can piece together that I am aiming for fast and roaring loud.
