I have an 86 dodge d150 pick up. here is the problem. the truck has a few issues but the biggest one i have is a shaking when i am up to speed. I have replaced the plugs and wires and the u joints but when im on the gas at 55-70 it shakes badly. its a 318 long box 2 wheel drive. I have had the truck for 4 years and hate to see it go. but i need help.

Have you balanced the tires or switched them from front to rear to see if the problem changes? Are the front wheel bearings adjusted properly? Do you feel the vibration in the steering wheel or under the seat?

 

defanatly not a balance issue. It seems only to shake when on the gas. If I get up to speed and let off the gas it will stop. Is it a rear end or tranny problem maybe? maybe a torque converter? The whole truck will shake feels like under the seat but it is so bad it is hard to tell.

My dodge did the same thing. I changed the U joints, checked the tires. My drive shaft wasnt balanced, so I put on a different drive shaft and it was fixed.

 

check all the bolts in the transmission and the bellhousing. on my buddies 2000 Firebird Formaul he was missing a couple of bolts on the bellhousing. check all the bolt on your driveshaft. check ever bolt that deals with the drivetrain.
