It started yesterday. Went for a drive and the truck worked great as it always does. One the way home it stalled like it ran out of gas.Pulled over tried it probally 20 times it finally started right up and got me home. In the yard died again and will not start.
There is no fuel or spark but I can hear the pump running. I was not sure where the pump relay or asd is so changed what looked like the two units both on theinside of the left front fender no difference so I put the originals back on. Tried gas in the carb no difference.Don't know where the crank position sensor is or the hall unit.
If I try to start it may be 20 times it will start all of a sudden run perfect for a minute then stall and will not go again.I have a spare ecm but don't really think it is that. I dont want to start replacing items for the sake of trial and error.All electrical items are original except the plugs, wires cap and rotor, new fuel filter.
truck only has 18,000 original miles and is some sweet. First problem I have ever had with it not starting.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Ok went out today tried it about 20 times tried to start maybe 5 times would just catch and stall, about 4 hours later I tried it and after may be 10 tries it started right up and idled fine. Ran for about 10 minutes. I shut it off it restarted ran another 5 minutes. I shut it off and put the air cleaner back on. tried it and it would not start any more.Battery getting very low.
Checked the codes today and she fired a bunch at me which it didnot do yesterday. Battery has not been disconnected.
Codes are 12 33 11 37 17 46 35 23 55.
11 is the pick up is it not. I don't know what the codes are for a dodge.
Can some one help please.I have to get the truck back on the road.

 

Check your distributor cap and rotor? Also check the coil and the coil wire. If its an 89 im shure its got throttle body injection. How often do you run the truck?

 

Thanks for the help. I got her going this morning. Distributor was mess inside so I changed the pick up coil while I was at it and it started right up.Might as well finish the job and do a tune up.

 

Well back after the tune up.Cost more than budget but hey she is worth it. Running tops again even in the heavy rain.

my truck would run nice just sitting there, but once i started driving it everything went to help. 1st the the O2 Senser wasn't pluged in (forgot to out it back on after putting headers on her), and after i fixed that the ground wire going from the battery to the frame broke, that was sucking my battery dry. now she runs like a champ. and shes been sitting for 7 months and still starts up with one turn (i'm stuck herein iraq). i know when i first bought her, she had problems. like when i would get on the gas, she would try to die on me, cap, rotor, plugs, and wires did the job.
