Lockright 1220 Locker in 9.25 dodge rear
I am thinking of installing a lockright locker in the rear of my 89 ram but would like some feedback from those currently running them. Truck is driven daily on the street. What issues will I have. How noisy are they.I was going to put in one of the newer powertrax models but have been told they are not as strong as the 1220 and already having failures.
thanks in advance for the feedback

I have a very similar style locker in my '70 Ford Torino. I like it in my car but would not put another one in a daily driven vehicle...save your money and get one with clutches. My Torino is a big block 4 spd. car and is extremely hard to drive in the rain or slick conditions. Whenever you turn you either slide the inside wheel or spin them both...most times it is easier to just slide the rear around corners...fun in my car but you have to be too careful to deal with it every day. The noise is fairly noticable too...people usually look to see what is pulling in when I turn into a parking lot. That can be good or bad! I've talked to people with engines that make less torque than my car and they don't have as many of the problems but you won't know for sure until you get it installed.

buddy of mine broke a couple in his 318 power wagon. I don't know that they were lock-rites, but they were the mini-locker type that just replace the spider gears. We welded the spiders in my old Ram, but for a daily driver I'd forget a locker and go with either a selectable or a limited slip.
