question about 1991 4x4 dodge ram 150?
well it has a stock 318 and i like playing in the mud and pulling my friends out when they get stuck & stuff like that. and i want some more power but i have no idea wat to 2 do cause it does good in the mud but it aint got enought power 2 sling rooster tails and get the tires spinning fast enought to sling the mud out of the grips cause i go 38s on it! see idk if it needs more horsepower or tourq can any one help me out on this?
Best bang for buck upgrade would be higher gears. Swap out the old ones for 4.10 or so, and you'll see a noticeable difference in power to the ground. Downside; you won't be able to drive as fast on the highway. But with 38" tires, I don't think you'd notice a severe difference.
Another option is to start upgrading the engine; better intake, better headers, and better exhaust. I've got a 600cfm Edlebrock Preformer, Stock headers, and dual exhaust on my 83 360 4-barrel, and It has plenty of power for 38x12.5R16 tires. I also have Lockers in both axles though.

i had not thought about that but ima probly try it thow. i got another question 4 ya when i lifted my truck it ****ed my steering all up its really loose & got a lot of play in . went and got a new drag link and put on it helped i can drive on da road now but its still got play in it got any ideas 4 dat?
Have a buddy rock the steering wheel back and fourth about 3/4 of a turn while you sit underneith and watch the steering linkages. thats the easiest way to see what parts are worn out.
