83 Ramcharger
alrighty. umm well i have an 83 and it needs pretty much a new everything. lol does anyone have suggestions for engines? or price ranges for them lol (and yes im a girl so i might sound funny)
Hey, we could have an ugly truck contest...bet I'd win! Mine is an '81 W150 that needed a lot too but I've got the mechanical repairs mostly done. The engine isn't great but it'll do for now. I'd suggest finding a used engine unless the money isn't a problem. After I bought my truck I called a friend up...I knew his dad had an '85 that he didn't use very much. Runs and drives but the tranny is slipping and the paint is sun burnt off. He said he'd take $150-200 for the whole thing. So that works! I've seen quite a few of the '80s engines around for that much. Otherwise I'd check into having yours rebuilt through a reputable machine shop that offers a warranty.
I'd say if you were looking for a good used engine to pay between $100-500 depending on how good they can prove it is. I wouldn't buy it unless it is currently running and they will let you do (or have done) a compression check. I haven't priced rebuilt engines but Ford/Chevy usually run between $800-1700 depending on warranties and what you have done.

I think I got you all beat for an Ugly Gen 1 truck. [Piktooor]
I'd suggest saving your pennies for a rebuilt motor, either a 318 or a 360. That way you get a warrenty, and an engine that will last for 250+ thousand miles. (If it was rebuilt by a good company.) Same goes with transmissions, espically with an automatic.
Pffft who needs mufflers? Straighpipe it with stacks. LOL
