I purchased a 1981 Dodge Ram 150 last night. It has a Slant 6, and a 4 speed manual w/ 4th gear stamped on the shift **** as OD.

Getting into first gear was no problem when first starting out, but as I drove through the city I found it difficult to find first gear when i came to a stop, and if I attempted to do so prior to stopping, the grinding of gears was unbearable. I find lots of play in the shifter, so finding other gears can be difficult also.

My question is, is there a way to tighten up the shifting to eliminate all the play that is present now?

I did search the board for similar posts, but had to luck finding any....
