hauling machine.
I'm looking to make my 88 d-150 into a hauling machine. My career is in the flooring industry, i'm an installer, and sometimes i have to haul some heavy material to the job site. I'm trying to decide what the best way to tackle this is. I'm pretty decided on hellwig helper springs at either 2500 or 3500 lbs even though i'll never load that much weight, its just nice having the protection. Any suggestions on maybe improving the power or torque? Thanks for your input.
I've hauled a lot with my '81 W150. Not sure what the springs are off of...I'm guessing it has either 3/4 or 1 ton rear leaf springs. I had a bumper pull trailer hooked to it with probably 4K worth of engines and parts...barely squatted. Also pulled a 3/4 ton van on a dolly and a 1 ton Chevy dually (farm truck size) on a trailer. That one was pushing me around some but no squatting. I have a worn out 318 2 barrel. It'll pull it...just don't expect to accelerate fast.
