just bought a '78 D150...need 318 engine info
I just bought a '78 with a 318 2 barrel on it. I'm completely new to dodge engines and just wanted to know where I can find information on this engine...any info. I just want to know everything I can know about it before I go tearing into it too far. For example I took off the valve covers and saw that it has shaft mounted rockers..something I did not expect to see on such a low horsepower vehicle. Any help would be appreciated.

i wore out a chiltons manual on my 76 chev that i bought in early 80's. trying to wear out my haynes manual for the dodge. this might be an unfair comparison due to age difference in publication and technology - but i like the haynes manual better - it has more pictures, better explanation.
Mopar was the first to offer shaft mounts in it's cars, mostly iny he big blocs, but smallblocks too had them. Everyone else had to pay a lot for them to be custom fitted, not MOPAR. MOPAR or NO CAR
