Have someone wobble the steering wheel back and forth while you look it over. Check the coupler where the steering shaft goes into the steering box, as well as everything underneath. Also the column itself, theres bearings and bushings in there.

The coupler between the column and gear box was worn out on my '81 when I bought the truck. The dealer sells a rebuild kit for $15-18 but by the time it gets really loose the housing is usually worn out too. The housing was around $60-75. I didn't get the right one the first time so I'm not sure how much it ended up being. I drilled and tapped it for a grease fitting before I put it on.

I put a u-joint and a couple yokes on it. I had an old PTO shaft that I took them from, removed the coupler, cut off the hollow part, welded the yoke on, slipped the other end over the steering shaft, got it a straight as possible, and welded it on. Alreeady had a grease fitting, and the u-joint is cheap, but I never had to replace it.
Or you can get one from Borgeson if you want to spend the $$$.

racer9 has a great home made fix. I put a Borgeson shaft on my W150 and it was a marked improvement. Of course a nicely reconditioned factory coupler will do the trick also. The key is to have the big full rubber cover on there to prevent moisture from entering the coupler.
May want to inspect your tie rod joints also.
