Need all the info i can get
BAH HUMBUG!! Do it with as 318!!! There is a great bolt-on only build of a 318 if you search google for "parts book 318". That's what I am doing. They got 400 Hp and some pretty good torque, plus you get to tell people that it is just a 318.

yea ive really got nothing against small blocks either.you can build one up for fairly cheap, or you can buy one already done with more than enough *****. these days you really dont need thousands of CIs and 50 carburettors to make HP
There is no replacement for displacement. On the other hand, that displacement burns alot of gas. I am going to build the 318 in my truck. When I rebuild it years in the future I may stroke it, but for now it stays 318. All you need is a good cam, intake, carb, and a little clean up on the heads, and you`re good for about 400 hp.
Could probably do it all for $500 or so on the cheap all the way to $1000 and more. Junkyards are your friend
. A aftermarket carb and intake can be found sometimes for $100 or so, then just rebuild the carb. Do your own head clean up.

well mostly all of us are into off road trucks and since they are going with scottsdale and blazers, and broncos and f250 i have to find a dodge that will be able to keep up on the trail and have the motor in the mud. so any model and motor preferances
You would be hard pressed to squeeze 400 hp out of a stock displacement 318. If it was bored or stroked it is very reasonable. Im building a 360 bored .30 over in the near future that will put 400 to the wheels no problem if I want it to. My dad is gettin ready to drop in his 318 bored .30 and it will make 300hp no prob. with his edelbrock/summit cam/exhaust. If you know someone to do the machine work, the sky is the limit.

Yes, the motor was bored out, and decked for zero deck. But still, everything else is bolt on. BOLT ON. I really don't see it as being that hard.
And now we have a new option. The crosswinds intake manifold can be used on the old LA block or with the new magnum heads.... isn't it wonderful?
