Ram air conditioner a no-go
Hey everyone:
I bought a '93 Ram last year that needed work, and I've been getting to that now in preparation for getting it on the road.
I'm dealing with an air conditioner issue that has me stumped because I'm just not familiar with Mopar AC systems;
When I got this, the air wouldn't work by the controls inside.Under the hood I noticed a wire coming from the positive battery cable and leading inside the cab, along with another wire leading to the compressor clutch harness.
Inspection revealed a switch under the dashboard, and sure enough, flipping it turned on the A/C compressor and it worked fine, very cold.
Obviously something isn't right here... we checked the freon level and it's good. Jumpered the pressure switch on the side of the expansion valve..no-go.It does have power to one side of it when the ac switch is selected.
That's as far as I've had time to get.There is another switch or relay mounted in a bracket beside the expansion valve and has a wire leading to a temp probe in the line, and another 3 wire harness leading away.The center wire in that harness has power fed to it when the system is engaged.
Where do I go from here? Are there more switches that I need to test until I find the culprit?
Thanks a lot...
