Pretty easy if you do alot of research before hand and can remove the exhaust piping yourself. You may also need to remove the valve covers if you cant reach the manifolds.

Just unscrew the exhaust manifolds and drop the headers on. With the end bolts in place, the gasket can be dropped into position. Get all of the header bolts started before you tighten any of them or you'll be sorry! You may also want to put a dollop of antiseizing compound on the header bolts before hand.

alright now i have some questions

on those headers they either say for off road or racing only. Why? Does that mean they cant be used on the road? Also, the ones from summit say to use oxy sensor use a header reducer?? Im a little confused on this too? Shed some light?

The reason for offroad use is emissions,no airtube hookup on these headers.
You can get a reducer with the o2 bung already installed, these headers have no place for o2 sensors.

If anyone does the header swap, would you please post it on here and tell us how it went? I recently ran true duals on my 87 and it sounds and runs alot better.I am seriously considering headers as my next project but I`m concerned about trying to loosen the manifold bolts that have been attached to my heads for the last 21 years.

ok cool. I havent done any of this before so I hope im not asking too many questions??
So since my truck is 89' I need an air tube hookup, I need to find headers that have that?
would the reducer weld onto the header or where would it go?
