How difficult is it to remove the engine and tranny? I want to pull it out, clean it up, replace any easy to get gaskets and maybe put some chrome on it. This will also let me clean up the engine compartment. What kinds of things do I need to consider before taking on such a project?

 

Never took mine out but damn wish i had when I did my cam/head swap... would have saved a lot of backache. I had a heck of a time getting the exhaust manifold/flange bolts off though, ended up having to grind the nuts off. You might run into a similar problem.

 

Remove the hood and make sure you have all the wires and other loos stuff out of the way, plug the tail shaft of the tranny or drain it first so you dont have a big spill of tranny fluid. you might run into the exhaust flang bolts being rusty spray a little pb blaster on them it might work to loosen them up and make sure your raditor is out of the way also then double check everything is loose or away from the motor then you can start to pull it.
