To set the timing warm up the mtr. then kill it. Unplug the temp sensor, set the timing, kill it plug the sensor in.
Possibles on the stall- fuel supply/pressure [first], one or both injectors plugged/ one not working [next],then map sensor/vacuum to it,egr controls[not likely],totally plugged exhaust, intermittent connection opened by engine movement[seen it before], computer fried. Those are the most likely.
Pull the + cable to clear the memory, then run it a few minutes and make it stall. Turn the key on/off/on/off/on/off/on. Watch the check engine light, count the flashes. 1 long 2 short= code 12 etc. Code 55 is battery disconnected, means nothing.
You didn't say whether it runs like crap or smooth at idle,or only dies in gear/under load. Engine warm/cold?[ie open/closed loop] Black smoke/plugs black or white? Hot spark? Bring up rpm slowly, start to stumble/miss, or bog or just instantly die? A scanner is almost a must have on computer controls to watch for lean/rich, block learn values [tells what the computer is doing with the fuel ratio over time]or unresponsive/out of range sensors, or to eliminate the basic system as the cause.

might also be the o2 sensor. Thats what ended up being my problem. Yes those computers are good to have helps figure out the problem.
