Default 1981 Ram Questions.

Have my sights on a 1981 Ram 250 4x4. The truck is a regular cab. When I looked at it I was really surprised to see manual hubs. Wasn't aware Dodge changed from the full time set up. That is a plus.

The rear axle looked like a Dana 60 but what about the front? Dana 44? It actually looked just as big as the rear axle.

I also found a 73 or 74 1/2 ton Power Wagon 4x4 Club Cab short bed. My thoughts were to take the axles out of the 3/4 Ram and put it in the Power Wagon.

Can anyone say if this would work? Would the front and rear axles bolt right in? I would really love to do this. Any advice and answers would be appreciated.

I can tell you about the hubs. They were "automatic" locking hubs from the factory, but many people had problems with them either not locking, or not unlocking, so they just replaced them with manual hubs, a very cheap, simple fix.
Not sure about the axles.

yes those axles could be correct. But if they look the same size it could be that the front is a Dana 60-F (f=front). So you oculd have Dana 60s back and front...i know such a configuration could be found on second gens anyhow.

Hey that 72 - 74 power wagon may have a rear that is almost as good as the dana 60 dodge used the 8 3/4 up until 74 and that is a awesome rear. In my opinion in a half ton that is not going to be hauling weight the 8 3/4 is honestly the preferred choice.
