Runs 11's!
As soon as it stops snowing (which is odd here), raining, and sleeting, I am going to take a better video and show you just what you`re really up against. I just really can`t move the truck right now because our yard is under a couple inches of water. And for that matter, I don`t ever see you posting anything about that Ramcharger. Afraid to let everyone know the true weakness?
What's to post? It's a bone stock '86, other than the '88 fuel inj., 35-12.5s and 4 inches of lift. I've stood it on both bumpers, had dirt pour in both windows. Go play in the sandhills a little. Blast a mudhole,or run dry washes and gravel pits on the Pecos.
Drove it to Colorado, wheeled it, drove it home, some 1500 mi. altogether.
So where have you taken your truck? It'll be nice when you finish it,but your a little cocky for somebody who's been to the end of the driveway and back don'tcha think?

It`s not cocky. Just faith in my work
. There`s no way that heavy sucker could out wheel your Ramcharger. But I bet I could drag it. And I`ll have you know I have also driven it around the back yard. I don`t even have to have that mower tank on it anymore.
Do you think I could use a spring loaded idler arm to take up the slack in my alt. belt?

'Ol Bumpy weighs about 5800 loaded for a trip. Tools, spare parts, water, oil, trans fluid, gear oil,2 jacks,2 spare tires, 2 jerry cans of gas,25lbs of my camping gear,at least 300lbs of the wife's stuff, provided she's only going a couple of days. Amazing how much crap you can cram in/on a Ramcharger.
Haven't tried it on a smallblock, but I have spaced the alt. farther away from the head and ran one belt in the outside groove on the bottom pulley on a big block. PS and water pump in the third groove.
Fabbing brackets isn't too tough. Once you get the basic shape cut out and bent as needed, cut the heads off some bolts and grind 'em to a point. Screw 'em in the selected holes, hold the bracket in place and whack the bracket with a hammer. Center punches everywhere you need to drill a hole, makes all the holes line up perfectly. Some pieces of tubing or pipe for spacers as needed and call it a day.

The sticker in the door jam on my truck says that it weighs 4300. So with that bed on it, I would imagine it`s well north of 5000. The sad part is that that`s before I add anything. I learned that my lawnmower pulley/belt tensioner idea is not the answer. The first time I wound it up a little (doing a small burnout), the belt went flying.
My brother is always braggin` about his 91 Mustang GT, so I had to rub it in his face yesterday a little that I have alot more power in my truck. He hadn`t seen it since I got the fuel pump in. Unlike his Stang, he says my truck rattles your feet when it runs. If I hadn`t been on a tight budget, I might have stroked it out and built a 408. But it ain`t bad for a 318.
