Default 85 dodge ram w150 first start in 8 months

well it winter and time to start the ole dodge its been sitting for 8 months. i noticed its leaking tranny fluid(on a rebuilt tranny i guess its time for a new gasket) and there is also no antifreeze left. also im 20miles from a parts store can i use water for antifreeze. as long as i drain it out after im done(its not in heated garage) it would only be idling for 2-3min. what all needs to be done before i start it. i just dont want to forget anything.

NO!! There are coolant passages that will not drain and you will end up with a cracked block.

you can use water, but go directly to the parts store and grab the unmixed antifreeze. park where nobodies looking and once the temp. comes down to a reasonable level drain half the rad and then empty the antifreeze into the rad right there in the lot.

i mean you really arent polluting to much if you're just draining water into the parking lot.

i dont want to give the idea that charlie is wrong, because he is right. but if you go about it the right way, which is adding antifreeze and running it a bit before you shut her down, then things should work out.
