Default 1984 D250 ?s

I'm looking at a 1984 D250 4x4 in the morning. I've never owned an older dodge before and was wondering what I should look for. What are the typical rust areas on these trucks? What kind of problems should I be looking for? I've been a Chevy guy for a while and I don't know if they're comparable as far as what problems they are prone to. All I know about the truck so far is that it has a 318 engine with approximately 80,000 miles. The owner said it has been kept in a shed so I'm hoping for a decent looking truck. Thanks for any help.

these trucks usually hold up. id say just check the frame rust-wise. No specific spots. take it for a long test drive at highway speeds.

ya there good trucks and very surprizing. the 318s are a very relyable engine and they make respectable power. mods are easy to install. my 85 150 with a 318 dose everything i need it to do and more.

Well I've looked at it and driven it once. It's in great shape for its age. The paint is a little faded but I think a good wax job will bring it back some. It does have a few rusty spots but just on the surface. As far as mechanics, I can't find anything wrong with it. I'm going to give it one more test drive this weekend and if I still like it I'll probably drive it home.

When I was 16 I had a '68 chevy truck and ever since I got rid of it I've missed driving "real" trucks. Trucks these days are just to fancy. I'm afraid i'm going to tear them up just using them as trucks. I've got an opportunity to go back to an older truck now and that's what I want to do. Get something reliable and not make payments on it.
