1983 Dodge Ram -- Value?
I hope this is in the right forum and it's appropriate...
Anyway, last summer I purchased a 1983 Dodge Ram with a slant 6 with just under 37,000 actual miles on it (sight unseen) from an older man who was moving to an old folks home for about $2000. He bought it brand new and kept meticulous care of it. He even kept every receipt from every oil change or tune up that was ever done to it in file folder he gave me. I was going to use it as a dump truck or whatever I didn't want to use my new truck for but after seeing it and seeing how well he kept it I just couldn't use it for that. So in the garage it sits. Runs great, body is in excellent shape (no rust what so ever) and the interior looks almost like it came out of the showroom floor. I guess my question is do you think it would be unreasonable to ask for $2500 or $3000 for this truck? Also, I don't want to sell it to some kid that's going to tear it up but how would I know? Or should I just hang on to it and let it sit in my garage (obviously I don't have a wife, lol)?
Thanks for any input.

it isnt worth what its worth, if you know what i mean.
that said, if you want a work truck ive got a 91 ram which runs well, transmission is a bi grouchy untill it heats up. well enough to be a dump truck for sure, and i dont put it though any work other then haulin sod or topsoil for my family.
its a 318 TBI with a little less than 110,00 miles. No rust on the fenders, its just starting on the rockers but i clean it and touch up as needed, the tailgate is painted with "matching" red tremclad, and the clear peeled off on the passenger side of the bed, which comes with a cap. gthr underside is nearly mint. check my photo album.
im interested in the better gas mileage, lower overall mileage, and nicer interior on your 83. I use mine as a daily, and my brother in law has a bigger work truck if i need it. I live in Ontario, so let me know if you want to trade

Thanks for the replies. I guess I didn't mean that it was going to sit in my garage and never be driven. I drive it once a week or so. I just mean it's not going to get used as a work truck or an everyday type truck. I usually just putt around with it. Nemesis, I get what you mean. I'll probably just put an ad in the paper as Ontario is a tad to far to do any kind of trading for me. Plus, I just bought a bed off of a S10 I'll use for lugging limbs and such. Thanks!
