hello all,
i'm new to the site and hope everyone can help out. I just bought my 92 d150 318, it runs like a top, but wont move an inch. It has a three speed w/ overdrive A500 transmission. My question is "what might be the problem" it does nothing when i go down through the gears at all. forward or reverse. The fluid looks brand new and doesn't smell burn. Shifter cable isn't broke and kick down is nice and free. The reason i ask is, i have everything i need to swap it out with a manual four speed. Which i would preffer, but my girlfriend not so much. just want to know if it may be something simple or just go with the swap.

Start by simply checking that all the linkage is working,even the input shaft to the valve body,rule out the easy stuff first.

 

Pull the pan, if you see nothing obvious, I'd say either the drive tangs are broken off the pump, or possibly the OD clutch has a problem.
