Default carb question

i was wondering what's the signs of a carb going bad.my truck will cut off someimes and i have adjusted the belts(move the alternator over some)and it still goes dead.i checked on the price of belts and the guy said could be carb.any other ideas thanks

So what year, mtr. etc. is it? Just dies? Or the battery goes dead? Or cranks won't start? Gotta have details.

it's a 86 with a 318 auto.it starts up right away and when it quits running i am not giving it gas

sometimes when i let off of the gas it goes dead.starts up with no problems.i can be at a stop sign/light,pulling into a parking lot.

I have an edelbrock 750 carb 1407 I had on my 318 before i swapped to a 440. It ran pretty good on the little ol 318, i have a complete metering kit with jets and rods. Pm me if interested. I can do $200 shipped . the carb new was $350 and the metering kit was $30
