Default Will newer radios fit my '81?

Couldn't find the answer in search, will the newer, available everywhere, Chrysler radio's bolt right in the older trucks?
90's radios seem to be all over, can't find older ones.

81 is the last year of the older body style if I am correct. The radio is the big square that sits high in the dash correct? I know mine uses a standard radio which slips into the dash. If the opening is wide enough you may be able to form a face plate out of hard board or something to allow the installation of a more standardised radio. I haven't seen any custom radios for those trucks in a long time. However I looked at JC Whitney and noticed they have a custom indash radio for a 77 dodge truck that may fit.

Contact Crutchfield. They have an adapter for every car ever made. They also supply wiring diagrams and adapter pigtails that just plug in.

Actually, '81 is the first year of the newer style, radio is low in the dash.
This is not mine, but the closest pic I could find

I just wondered if they all mounted with the bolts through the front, hidden by the trim piece, or if the older ones mounted different.

Thats identical to mine except I have an adapter that sticks out slightly past the bezel. I have a pioneer that is a slide in chassis which can be purchased at just about any audio outlet. Little tabs are bent out inside the bezel to attach the radio and for a little added security you can attach the back of the radio to the fire wall via the center bolt on the back of the radio. Its a basic size opening for the most part so your not limited to just radios sold for the Rams.
