78 w/starting problems

Default 78 w/starting problems

my friend and i are working on a 78 p/u 4x4,360,auto....it was running good but at times when you shut it off it would not restart without a jump.replaced battery and after a couple of weeks it will not start at all!!!it cranks good but we are not getting spark.this truck was bought as a basket case so anything is possible,we have checked the pickup coil in the dist,ballast resistor seems to ohm out correctly.....any ideas??????????????????

I'd look at the coil iteslf after making sure all connections are tight and free of damage. Take the ignition modual off and most parts houses could test it. If all else fails you might take a trip to a junk yard and see if you can find a point style distributor, last one I picked up for 15.00 and I ran the truck for about 8 years on it.

Fuselinks, bulkhead connector at the firewall, amp gauge. All of 'em are trouble prone.
