looking into swaping out a fuel injected 318 to a 360 on a 89'. my question is back in that year did the 360 come fuel injected, or did it still use a carburetor?

 

Even if the 360 is fuel injected the 318 computer will not deliver enough fuel for a 360. I think you will have to change out all associated wiring, controls, sensors and the computer. You will probably find going to an older non injected 360 will be best if you don't mind violating the emissions laws.

 

It would depend on what county power ram lives in. When I lived in Texas in Hunt county we did not have emissions test.

 

The 89s were under federal emissions laws.

 

Actually, lugnuts has an 86 Ramcharger with a 360 that he uses the TBI setup from an 88 318 on. I would imagine that you lose a little power, but it can be done.
