Default New to ram on DF

Hello - I am new to the ram part of DF but not to DF. Ive had 3 dakotas and its time for a full size. So i bought a 90 power ram W150 for a grand has 220000 original miles and its all original, motor runs like new.
Aside from all of the little problems an old truck would have i have a big one and im looking for some help. I was driving it home and the truck would run amazing and 75 for about 20 miles then out of no where the tranny would jump ( like it was shifting down really hard ) then the check engine light will come on and it starts shifting sparatically (sp?)...any ideas? this weekend i am going to change the filter and fluid on the tranny maybe thats all it needs.

Here is a pick of the beast oh and its a 318 with an auto (not sure which one)
Thanks for the help

You are on the right track with the fluid and filter, low fluid can make it shift at odd times. I believe you have a computer running the shifts on that model so make sure to check all the electric connections and cables coming out of the trans to make sure there is no oil or trans fluid shorting them.

Nice catch on the truck, should run for a long time.

Thanks Ill check those out. Also i did check the fluid, showed a quart low, filled it up, put the dipstick back in and the rubber stopper was movin up and down the stick so i ordered a new dipstick from dodge ($30) but until then im not sure how much fluid is in there...
