Default 1987 W-150 Auto gear selector

hey guys, i just bought the truck last night, and the needle that tells you what gear you are in doesn't move, its not that big of deal, just something that would be nice to have. So i was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it or knows a site that has a guide to fixing it. Thanks

My 89 has a short cable that connects the needle to the shifter inside the column cover and it broke giving me the same problem. I used some steel fishing leader and some crush type connecters for the steel leader wire to fix it. It has been working now for about 10 years. Getting it the right length is tricky.

Mine use to do that (and still does sometimes). It usually happened when I pulled the gear selector down into Low. After I shifted it a couple of times it would jump back to where it was suppose to be. Pull the lever from park to low (slowly) a few times and see if it doesn't spring back to where it is suppose to be. Sometimes they just stick.

I have the same truck with a similar problem...only the needle on mine is gone. Is it possible to replace that part, or could it be hiding somewhere?

Thanks.
