Default knocking and valve tapping

ok i figured my oil pump went out i was going threw a town and looked and saw my oil pressure was gone i pulled over and here some rapping so i shut it off and put some more oil in it to ube the top end. i have it over full right nwo so i could make it back and i was just wondering is my motor ok that i can put a new pump in it it never got hot i had to drive about 30 miles back but i didnt beat it and i was wondering if there was anyway i could pull the pan without pulling the motor its a 2wd 318

I think on a 2wd you can unbolt the pan with it in the truck. Pull your valve covers too though. Make sure it didn`t wear too much on the rockers. My brother had 4 pushrods wear holes all the way through the rocker arms on one of his trucks. You might even want to check your oil filter for metal shavings.

is it true you can reuse the valve cover gaskets if there somewhat new since there rubber

If you want to try reusing them, apply RTV to the gasket before you put them back on.

ok guys i put the oil pump in but it still has a valve tick severly i pulled the covers and the rockers look ok just some people told me its cuz the rockers dryed up so all i need to do is runn it with the oil in it and itl fix it is this

It may be you have some debris in a lifter not letting the oil flow or a collapsed lifter.
How is the oil pressure?
