Talking Carb Help?

I recently installed a 440bb into my pickup and I am looking for some basic air/fuel mix adjustments on my Edelbrock 650cfm carb. I know it is 2 1/2 turns on my chevy 350 however I just can't seem to keep the 440 going for more than five minutes. I know I need to put a gauge up to it I am just looking for a good starting point because I need to move the truck do to tree trimmers coming.

Check to see if the bowls have enough fuel/float level/needle and seat, fuel supply?
How well will it idle?
That engine should have a little bigger carb.

It idles fine when there is enough fuel getting to the engine. I put a new fuel pump on it and still no luck. Found out that someone had put something in the main tank causing the line to block from the sending unit to the tank switch. So today I will run a direct line to the aux tank, hopefully that will give me gas again so I can move her.
