Default Carb rebuild help

Hi all,
(please bare with me, I don't know the technical names for cab parts) I recently acquired a 1975 w200 with a 360 engine. I'm trying to take the carb apart for cleaning/rebuilding but I can't get the top choke assembly apart from the middle float bowl assembly. All the (visible) screws are removed but I still can't get it apart more than a few millimeters. What am I doing wrong? Any advise? Thanks.

does the carb have a make written on it? is it a rochester, carter or holly. any info written on the carb would help us know what carb you need info on.

It's a holley carb, there's a few different nubers written on the float bowl. I have no idea what they mean or if they are of any use to you.

R 6765 1A
3751465
0345

The butterfly valve plates have 209 stamped on them.

R6765 1A is the carbs model number. i have had no luck finding any info on it. have you pulled all the sparkplugs to see if the engine is seized or not. it might be a wise idea before you start putting too much time into the carb.

Thanks for the reply, no the only thing I've done to it is pull the carb off so I can see if it's worth saving. I've got a half day off work friday so we're gonna tare into it then. After pulling the carb off I noticed there's a lot of crap down in the intake manifold so that's gonna have to come off. Looks fairly easy, I assume the valve covers also have to come of before the intake? What about the distributor? Does that have to come out with the intake too?

What's the best way to turn the engine over after pulling the plugs? Thanks.

the valve covers can stay on when you remove the intake but you will have to take the distributor out. the distributor is easy to remove all you have to do is mark where it is pointing. the best way to turn the engine over is the main pully that is attached to the crank. it should turn really easy with no sparkplugs installed.

Thanks again. I got the carb apart, apparently the air hat bolt travels all the way through the carb and has to be removed before you can separate it.
