Default trans and header question

Hey all,
I have a 1990 d150/2wd/318.
Is there a way to tell what transmission model I have without taking the trans out? I cannot see or find any markings or numbers on it.
Also, I'd really like to put a set of headers on, but all the headers I can find for this truck are long tube and then the Y pipe would have to be modified. Is there a set of headers out there for this truck model/year that will bolt to the existing Y pipe without modification?
Thanks for any help.

i don't think there is a set of headers that that would fit a stock y-pipe. it would not make sence. a stock y-pipe and headers. usually if you get header you get a custom exhaust system. and this picture should help identifie your transmition.

What's the "Code", for the transmission build date? When I was under mine, and checking it out, I saw 235 04 for the build date.
