I have a tired 318 in my 83 w150. I found a 5.2 out of a 98" durango 35k wiring harness and computer for $1250. what should i do rebuild the 318, find a 360 or use the durango engine? i have about $2500 to work with. have any of you done this swap? thanks

 

It's an older Durango? Probably wouldn't be any more difficult than putting a 360 in the thing. Might have to do some engine mount work, Radiator (as stated in other thread), Might want to grab the matching tranny for either engine. Might need to do some mount work for that too. Ofcourse You'll probably have to find or have a drive shaft made cause the length may be different. Probably won't be that bad actually cause the 360 *should* be pretty close to the 318.

I've not done a 318 to 360 or 318 to Durango 5.2l, but I've helped with some work like that with other engines.

I'm personally wanting to put a 4BT or 6BT in mine. Lot more work there.

 

Are there any computer inputs in the 98 that are not from the engine and can not be put on your truck? If so you will have a permanent check engine light and the computer will not have the information it needs to properly control the engine. (timing, fuel mixture, and more)

 

i would go for finding a 360.

 

I have a new 5.9 Magnum on a stand that was destined for my Grand Cherokee but never made it.

I contemplated putting it in the D100 but the wiring would be a nightmare... so it's on Craigslist and I'm looking for a carb'ed 440 to drop in. More fun anyways
