Default 87 D150 aftermarket issues

I have an 87 D150 that the 318 motor has been rebuilt with a bigger cam, headers, aftermarket intake and holley four barrel carb. The problem I am having is timing issues. This truck comes with the non vacuum distribitor. It is computer controlled advance. I want to get away from this so I have a coil and distribitor from an 87 that has vacuum advance with no computer behind the head light. What kind of wiring do I have to do to get it to work? Can I just unplug the computer and run a hot to the coil? Do I need the wiring harness off the other truck? I am really in need of a little advice on this one.

you would need the wiring harness, coil and distributor off the other truck. it should be fairly plug and play if you get the wiring harness from another 87 d150.
