Default Water Pump Replacement

After the lower radiator hose burst, we replaced the hose only to find that now it appears that the water pump is leaking (hard to see from where though). So, in preparation for a water pump replacement, are there any tricks/tips/shortcuts that will make the replacement any easier? I have access to the official procedure, but I'm curious to know if there are any other methods. This is on a 1984 Power Ram 250 with the 360 engine. Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance.

its pretty straightforward, no tricks or shortcuts since you have an 84 there should not be alot of things to remove to replace the pump, remove the fan and belts and drain the coolant from the radiator and pull the bottom hose off and put a pan under there and let the block drain. I would suggest cleaning the bolts with a wire brush before reinstalling the new pump..............Ron

The only thing I will add is the job goes alot easier if you pull the radiator.
You've already got the lower hose off and it is drained. Just unbolt shroud and the mounting bolts of rad (maybe tranny cooler lines if installed)
and the rad comes right out. Makes job easier AND prevents radiator from getting damaged by accident. Believe me, they get pricey.
(BTW, unbolting the grille is super easy and really makes the job easy)
