Default Intake manifold installation

So I picked up an Edelbrock TM5 intake and 1406 carb for $125 from Craigslist. Figured at that price I might as well go 4 barrel instead of rebuilding my 2 barrel for the time being while I build up the 440.

I haven't done an intake manifold install since my 84 Camaro and I've never worked on a Chrysler small block before.

I'm going to ditch the AC and smog pump while I'm in there but I didn't know if there were any tricks or other things I should do while I'm in there.

Things I should replace? Some gaskets better than others? Other things I can trash?

I did the same thing. The 2 bbl was shot and the combo you described was cheaper. I also had not done in awhile and called a couple friends. My question was whether or not to use RTV on the gaskets. About 50/50 on responses. When I do it again I WON'T use RTV however.....more chance for vacuum leak me thinks. Make sure you have a good temp sender and T-stat.

IMHO. A dot of RTV at the corners where the gaskets meet is good insurance. A small dot in each corner then put the gaskets in place and another small dab and then install the manifold.
