Auto to Manual Conversion Goodies
I have not had a chance to mess with my truck in a while but it is always on my mind. On my way to work the other day I made a wonderful disovery. A very nice 89 D150 was sitting on the fence line at the local salvage yard. I could hear it calling to me like buried treasure. I knew I was going to need some sheetmetal from the front so I stopped to take a look. Sure enough the front support clip is in perfect shape along with the inner fender wells. Check a few parts of the list! So lets take a look inside... 4-speed manual on the floor, the angels were singing. So I also go home with a complete conversion, all parts except the drive shaft which was not completely gone, to replace my 3 speed auto for $400. I actually got confirmation from the previous owner that the trans was rock solid. So merry early christmas to me. Now I just have to do some research on what gears I have now and what to do with the rear end gears to make this thing a highway cruiser.
