Default 1993 W250 5.9 Magnum Needs Engine

I have a 1993 W250 with the 5.9 Magnum. I'm looking for a new engine for it, what years would be a direct swap? Current engine is dead, not sure what is wrong, was going down the interstate cruise set at 65mph and just saw 1 cloud of white smoke then lost all power. Trailered it home, went to pull the dip stick to see what it might tell me, basically, what it's telling me is that it won't come out! Therefore looking for a replacement motor, unless someone can tell me this one is worth repairing.

Thanks!

* Don't want to get rid of the truck, it's in too good of shape, no rust, transmission with less than 5,000 miles on the rebuild, new shocks, brakes, tires and tune-up as well.

have you tried pulling all the spark plugs and spinning the engine over by hand?
unless you find an engine from the exact same year you would have to swap over a lot of parts. you might be able to install an engine from a 94 or newer. i'm not sure about it.

You need to figure out what happened. Did the engine seize up? Until you can answer that you don't know that a new engine will solve your problem. If the engine is seized your on the right track but if not a compression test is in order.

If I'm not mistaken, though it may only apply to the 318, it's the same engine from like 92 to 95? or something. I was able to verify the info on Wikipedia for the 318, and I think when doing that, the larger engines were the same as well.

Might take a look there. Ofcourse, you'll want to take the advice of SEAL and wolfie... see why it don't run first. And then... if you do need an engine, go all out and get a Cummin 6BT <_< You can smell like McDonalds or Olive Garden going down the road >_>

Any 5.9 magnum will drop go in after swapping a few parts. The 92-95 360 magnums were balanced with weight on the torque converter and the later 96-03 5.9L magnums had the weight on the flexplate. If you get a motor that came out of something other than a first gen take a look and make sure there are the same number of sensor ports. At most you would have to swap your intake to the new motor. You will probably have to swap the accesories over from the old motor also. You could get a 318 too, ask if you want details on that.
