Default tranny and transfer case ?'s

hey guys i have a 1982 w150 stepside. im going to start tearing into the drivetrain this summer with engine swap and some rebuilds on the 4spd tranny and transfer case but i dont have a clue to what kind of 4spd or transfer case i have. where would there be a tagged at exactly? thanks

The tranny should have a tag on the drivers side of the case. The transfer case should have a tag on the rear of the case. You can also get a build sheet for the truck at the dealership with your VIN.

Np435 4-speed manual with granny gear and Np208 are my guesses. Elwenil or something like that on Pirate 4x4 would probably know. You could also ask on ramcharger central. I would suggest searching first so you don't get flamed, pirate especially.

i would agree with gerehead8... thats what my 84 has

i got a build sheet from my local dodge dealer and the parts manager tried to tell me my truck is a d series. i told him they didn't have a factory 4x4 d series truck in 1984, he says "how do you know?" but the build sheet did list all of the factory options my truck came with from front to back. good luck with the rebuild
