TBI is more of a pain in the a$$ as far as i'm concered. i don't trust computer controled vehicles. your computer could die anytime and you could be SOL on the side of the road in the middle of no-where. it is also harder to diagnose computer problems in vehicles.

My 88 tbi 318 does pretty good for a stocker with just dual exhaust and 3.92 gears and can spin 295 50 16 tires.

mabe you should go to the dealer and find out what gears you have first.

Comes with as a default, maybe. But there were plenty of options. Do you have a build sheet anywhere? You can try a free online vin decoder. I know there is a marking of some sorts on the back of the diff casing too.

The dealer will decode the VIN but the truck is 22 years old. The rear end could easily have been swapped out at some point.

pre TBI trucks are usually 3.55, most TBI's have 3.55 posi's ........... i just priced out making my 318 into a 372 stroker for $3000 less labour.... if you really wanna spin them get a 360 crank, 360 rods and some 340 pistons....than with a stock top end and those parts you'll make at least 400 FT.Ib's of tourque...then you'll spin them
