Unhappy Distributor Problems

Hello, was wondering if any one has tried to do an h.e.i installation in their dodge? I'm running a 76 Dodge d100 with a 318 trying to figure out how to wire my new distributor. It's a wysco WP8913-M with the "ignition" unit on the distributor. Removed the old mopar unit, bypassed the ballast resistor and ran pos. lead directly to the coil. Connected the positive lead from the distributor to the pos. side on the coil and negative on the neg. side and grounded it to the chasis. Truck doesn't want to fire, no spark and only 10 volts to the coil, 11 with the voltage regulator disconnected. Ignition is wired correctly, any help would be apprieciated.
