I don't see a replacement rear bumper for the 79 Stepside listed by the vendors I have been able to find that sell old Dodge truck parts.

Does anyone know of such a listing somewhere? or does anyone know a more readily available interchange part from a different model/brand truck?

 

Unfortunately they are no longer produced. The last ones where made about two years ago. Due to tooling costs I do not anticipate anyone making them again.

Best bet is finding a used one a getting it re-chromed.

Or you can try http://www.bumperboyz.com/main.htm they used to be able to get them and rechrome them for us. But there quality and ability to get them had slipped to the point in the last year we stopped selling them also.

So, since I'm not overly concerned with keeping the truck 100% original, can anyone suggest an alternative? Has anyone bought a bumper for a Chevy/Ford/GMC/whatever and modded it to fit? I know I'd be looking at fabricating the brackets, but that's doable.

 

I am pretty sure that the full size vans used the same bumper as the trucks, minor bracket fabrication though. A few years back I got a new factory one and put it on my 1976 W200
