Default Door Locks

Im about to purchase an 80's model W-150 and the guy has lost the key to the doors. What would be the best way to have this fixed? Do I need to buy new locks and keys or can I have the existing cylinders rekeyed? Thanks
Jeff H.

Depending on the price I'd just get new cyls - they wear out over time and sometimes I can't get the stupid key in my locks. A good question would be why is the door key different than the ignition key.

Default RE: Door Locks

Its probably been broken into in the past. ie. locks punched. Or he could of just had them replaced. The door locks get a little finnicky after 20 years of service. The ignition key and the door key is always the same for 80s rams.

You may be able to get new keys for the door if you take apart the door panel and get the key code off of the lock. Then just bring that to a locksmith. That is if they had the keycode on rams. I haven't checked. Or if it is an aftermarket one it may or may not.
