Default 2nd gen rims on 1st gen truck

I have a 82 ram and am looking for nicer rims. The ones I have are mismatched. I have a chance to pick up some stock rims from a second gen ram, but want to try and make sure they will fit. I looked in the door jam and seen that the sticker says the wheel pattern is 15 inch rims 5 on 5.5. The rims for the 2nd gen are supposed to be 16 inch, but that is all i know. Would the 16 inch rims fit my 82 ram? it's not 4 wheel drive.

i figure i should mention that 16 inch tires are way more expensive than 15 inch tires.

Thanks for the input, and for the reminder or 16 inch rim prices.

I've always heard that 85 was the first year for the 5.5 inch bolt circle on Dodge.

2nd gen is 5 on 5.5,hub is 3.0

The OP said his 82 had 5 on 5.5 bolt circle unless I read it wrong.

I looked again in case I read wrong. The thing in the door jam that tells the tire size and gross vehicle weight and such states "rims at 15-5.5." Am I understanding that wrong?

I think that is rim size, 15" diameter by 5.5" wide.

Ok, now it is all starting to make sense. I keep researching and trying to figure this out. Guess I better not get the rims. Thanks for the help.
