WHAT SHOULD I DO??? EVERYONE HELP PLEASE!!
OK, Ive been thinking and dreaming all day long. I have a 67 Dodge 3/4 ton Camper Special Crew Cab that was given to me. It has a 383 and an auto. It is a 2wd. I want to take the auto and 383 out of it and maybe put it into my 97 Ram new project truck. Id like to maybe put the 440 and an auto into that 67 2wd for a tow rig. I need everyones input on this. Should I work towards the 383 in the 97 with an auto or work towards the 440 in the 97 with an auto? Also, Is the trans in the 67 able to be converted to a 4wd? I have 2 transmissions-one on the 383 2wd and one on a 400 2wd. Are they the same transmission? Will they interchange? Will both of them fit on the 440? I think that I can make the transmission from the 400 into a 4wd for sure. Im not sure about the 383. Im new to the Big Block scene so I need all the help I can get from all you BB guys. Also, I need my transfercase drop to be on the drivers side because of the 97 front end. PLEASE HELP ME!!! Thanks Dan
just save yourself the trouble and let me take that 440 off your hands
just kidding.
as far as i know the transmissions for the big block 383, 400, and 400 are all the same bolt pattern, but i don't know how easy they will be to put into your '97. As far as the 4x4 option you would have to swap the long tailhousing and output shaft on the transmissions for the shorter versions for that transmissions.
I hope this helps, but I must say that i have limited experience in big blocks so I may be wrong.

Well, I am just going to swap the 440 into the 97. I have step by step instructions on how to do it properly. I am working on trading my BB 435 bellhousing, 435 and 208 adapter for a 727 for BB with the t-case adapter. If anyone has a good working 727 for BB 4x4, let me know and we can trade for the 435. thanks
