Default Transmission/Electrical issue

Another question for the Dodge folks here, on my 92 Ram 250, 360 TBI.

This truck has the 4 spd auto trans. The problem is an intermittent one. Sometimes when I drive it, the speedometer does not work at all. When this happens, the truck will not shift into overdrive, no matter what. Other times I'll take it for a run and the speedo will work fine, and it'll shift into OD with no issues.

Been checking out some wiring circuits and digging through some schematics to see if I can find what might be causing the issue but nothing yet.

Anyone had a similar experience?

Cheers

you probably will not find a problem by looking at schematics. it sounds like a bad connection or something like the speed sensor is dieing on you.

Looking at the schematics lets you know what components are involved in a circuit, and what to look for when doing the actual checks. It helps quite a bit, provided you know how to read one.

Already helped me figure out this problem.
