Angry 1991 5.2L Smog Removal Help

Hello,
I have a 1991 automatic tbi 5.2L with the smog AIR system coming into the back of the exhaust manifold. I want to eliminate this whole AIR system and put normal headers on this, but I am unsure if it will bother the rest of the engine or what it will entail. For the law abiding people, no worries, it wont ever be put on road legally so don't say well the big government said no so you shouldn't do it! Its a farm truck. So if anyone has some input on this it would be greatly appreciated.
Jim

i removed the smog system off of my 1990 dodge ram, first i removed th pump on the belt system, and all of the pipes the run behind the motor. one of them runs to the catylatic converter. all i did was plug any holes that were left open and my truck runs fine... i now get 30 miles more to the tank, and more grunt when i step on it
