Default elec. water pump

I was looking at a bunch of catalogs and I always see electric water pumps, I understand that it would remove a belt (on my truck at least) but is there really anything to gain by getting rid of the stock belt driven type pumps??

Switching to an electric pump frees up the small amount of power used to turn the installed pump. Now the draw back is reliability. Both pumps can have the same problems but you are adding an electric motor and associated wiring that bring their own separate set of problems. I would not change on a daily driver. IMHO

Yes, I agree with SEAL. There used more for race applications.
