Tips replacing crankshaft sensor on 92' W150
I have a code 11 and checked the crankshaft position sensor grey/black wire and it is putting out constant voltage. Checked the pickup coil under the distributer and that is putting out the correct pulsing 0 to 5 volts.
The crankshaft sensor looks to be a real pain to get to. Just wondering if anyone had any tips on how to replace it. I was thinking of taking out the passenger motor mount to drop the motor down. I was able to get off the top bolt for the EGR heat shield but cannot even reach the bottom bolt. I could unhook the front drive shaft and then I think I could get to it. If I take the heat shield off can I swap out the crank sensor, or do I still have to unbolt the EGR tube? Because that will be a real job. Those bolts have never been off and they are coated with rust. Thanks in advance for any help. I have been unable to find much on the web for this issue and the Hayes book makes it look easy.
