Default Idle.

Hey guys, wondering what your trucks rev at idle? My truck used to rev at around 1000-1500, but when a guy was looking at my trucks motor for reference to his motor he was rebuilding, he plugged in a connector, and my truck started reving really slowly, it revs around 500 now, which is great on gas, but its really tricky driving it for the purpose of offroading, it stalls quite often, even at idle its fighting to stay alive. The problem is, I cant find the plug he plugged back in, any ideas? LOL, thanks again fellas!

have you check the timing. the truck should idle at about 750rpm. if you adjust the timing a little bit you should be able to get it up to 750 easily.

Is the ISC (idle speed control) actuator plugged in?

I'll try timing it and see what happens. Which plug is the ISC?

It is the 4 prong plug on drivers side of the throttle body by the accelerator cable. It can also be called the AIS (automatic idle speed) motor. It is the thing that actually physically controls the idle speed of the engine.

My idle speed motor doesn't work so I run a little high without the a/c on, about 800-850. But with the a/c and lights on it idles at 700, 600-650 in gear. I found that if the idle is down too low the a/c clutch will cut out or not come on at all when you turn the a/c on.
